Hey, happy Monday.<\/p>\n\n

What I am about to tell you may seem counterintuitive and at the antipodes of what productivity gurus have always told you, but it is as surprising as it is true.<\/p>\n\n

If you want to rekindle motivation, update your tools.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

This is a very busy time for me, and for some time now I have left aside my daily runs and only recently resumed them.<\/p>\n\n

For 3 years I had no problem setting my alarm clock at 5:25 a.m. and being on the road at 6 a.m. sharp. Especially in the winter when the asphalt is crunchy with ice, when as soon as you stop your body heat creates a cloud of steam all around and the endorphins kick in more than caffeine. <\/p>\n\n

For the past few months I have substituted – out of necessity – the pleasure of running for the pleasure of writing. The early hours of the morning are priceless for light, silence and mental clarity. <\/p>\n\n

But now it’s not so far away. I have decided to reintroduce running into my routine. Because in the end if you move the body you also move the ideas. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

I put my shoes back on, go for a run. I feel, however, that it is not the same. The old shoes already have my shape, they know the way without surprises. Then I have to confess that I have a hard time leaving the hot coffee and key tapping for the cold asphalt, the breathlessness and the times to catch up. How to regain the motivation to wake up at dawn? <\/p>\n\n

I bought a new pair of shoes. The kind you can’t wait to put on your feet. And so I turned every ordinary morning into Christmas Eve, at least for me. The taste of slipping on fresh rubber, feeling the push of the new sole, catching my breath and time. <\/p>\n\n

It is not a metaphysical secret.<\/p>\n\n

Want to take more notes? Buy a notebook with good paper and a pen that makes good handwriting… <\/p>\n\n

Want to take more photos? Buy a nice camera… <\/p>\n\n

Do you want the pleasure of driving? Upgrade your car… <\/p>\n\n

Do you want to be more productive? Change the app for your tasks. <\/p>\n\n

Before people make switches<\/h2>\n\n

When we choose a tool, we do so because we understand that using it will make us better. Faster runners or more productive professionals–any tool brings our performance to a plateau<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

At some point any product stops supporting the desire for progress, and we begin to wonder if there is something better. An answer we always look for in the market. <\/p>\n\n

It is the most underestimated and valuable time for anyone who wants to innovate, maintain close customer relationships, expand their own or take away from the competition.<\/p>\n\n

A new feature is launched. <\/p>\n\n

A new, updated model.<\/p>\n\n

Otherwise people make switches<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n

I could give the example of the iPhone, which changes but doesn’t change, which doesn’t talk about the features but how you can become with those features, which doesn’t upgrade the product but upgrades the customers. But I’ll spare you that. <\/p>\n\n

The big switch<\/h2>\n\n

The most obsolete tools? It is time to update the ones we use to run businesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

From ineffective management models and incomprehensible presentations and spreadsheets. From blatantly ineffective meetings attended with the camera and microphone off. Not to mention management systems bought by executives on paper as a house they will never inhabit. <\/p>\n\n

Monolithic software that slows down work instead of speeding it up, jamming it into rigid, bureaucratic processes that serve only to control instead of liberate.<\/p>\n\n

Then making switch is talent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

From great resignation<\/em> to quiet<\/em> quitting<\/strong>, regardless of the label, this is just a symptom of those who have stopped feeling progress.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Also making switches are the results, which transfer following people, into companies that are able to upgrade their operating systems.<\/p>\n\n
