Hey, happy Monday,

You can continue reading or jump right to the bottom where there are two important announcements!

You can grow your business by improving the performance of products or services or you can launch new ones. Either way you can work in two ways.

The former is the equivalent of betting on horses.

The riskiest. This is how it works in many organizations.

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

Someone pitches an idea. This idea becomes a series of slides with an unrealistic business plan but specifically designed to pass the filter of “it’s okay if it makes fifty percent margin.” They all start working to get something seen as soon as possible but, even if you are nimble, the idea does not meet the market before the enthusiasm and oxygen run out.

The second way, on the other hand, seems logical, but for that very reason, goes unnoticed by even the best managers.

Some people in the organization interpret signals that clearly say something needs to be done. Sales may shrink, sales meetings become less frequent, new legislation comes into effect, …

One can respond to this by adapting existing products to the new demands of more imoprtant customers or by investing in something new strategically aligned with the organization’s vision.

Those who work in such organizations, which in our STRTGY Maturity Index, we have called “innovative,” are aware that it is difficult to create overnight success and therefore avoid making big plans for the future.

Rather, try to understand whether this future really exists.

Through shared, structured and rigorous creative processes, it is possible to

  • Identify what numbers the Business needs.
  • How Designers can co-design new experiences to achieve these outcomes
  • And most importantly, how to test the hypotheses at the lowest possible cost.

Design leadership

Increasingly leading this process are Designers who are no longer just concerned with aesthetics but also, and more importantly, with strategy, business and technology, and they are already demonstrating through their work thepositive impact of these disciplines on the profitability of companies.

Numbers in hand

In an Invision survey of 22,000 companies in 24 industries and 77 countries, it emerges that

  • 16% have more designers than engineers

  • in 33% the design responds directly to the CEO

It means putting strategy at the heart of every activity.

Acceleration program

The Design STRTGY for Business Innovation LIVE Program is unique in that it combines OKRs, Jobs-to-be-done and Design Sprints with precision and in operational sequence.

It accepts only 10 selected professionals and the only way to participate is to join the waiting list.

I have personally met the first ones who have already confirmed participation, and I can only tell you that I am honored by the idea of working with them.

There will also be a new feature in this edition. The Goal Setting module, will be enriched with the new framework developed with Pedro Clivati that combines OKRs and Growth Hacking. The same one we will present at the September event that you should not miss.

To participate in the Accelerator Program there are still open spots, but hurry, I don’t know how long yet
